Position Summary

We are in search of a Mechanical Technician for our 3rd Shift Maintenance Team. The operational hours for this shift are from 11 PM to 7 AM, Sunday through Thursday. The role of Mechanic A entails executing intricate repairs with minimal oversight to ensure the proper functioning of on-site machinery and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues while setting up equipment across all filling, packaging, mixing, and assembly areas.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems, which may involve disassembling, replacing, and reassembling machinery within the department.
  • Mentor and oversee junior mechanics, regularly assessing their work quality.
  • Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on all machinery and facility equipment, adhering to the established maintenance schedule.
  • Perform advanced electrical, plumbing, welding, and carpentry tasks as required.
  • Utilize machine tools and creatively fabricate fixtures and components when necessary.
  • Interpret technical drawings and schematics to pinpoint issues and determine the most effective corrective measures.
  • Employ a multimeter to troubleshoot both high-voltage and low-voltage control systems.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to daily tasks and projects.
  • Initiate complex work orders and report any abnormal machine conditions to the relevant personnel.
  • Carry out various other duties as required.
Compensation

The pay rate ranges from $26 to $31 per hour, based on prior experience, with an additional $1 per hour shift differential for 3rd shift workers.

Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or GED, along with 3 to 5 years of relevant technical trade experience, is required.
  • A strong background in industrial electrical systems is highly preferred.
  • Experience with controls (PLC, Air Logic), electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is essential, along with the ability to read and interpret machine assembly drawings and schematics.
  • Capability to troubleshoot I/O controls (24VDC, 120VAC) using a multimeter to identify electrical and component issues.
  • This position necessitates standing or walking for nearly the entire shift, with some lifting of over 50 pounds, as well as bending, climbing, and twisting motions constituting approximately 35% of the working time.
  • Previous experience operating motorized equipment (e.g., tow motor, low lift) is highly desirable.
  • Finger and hand dexterity are crucial for tasks involving grasping, pulling, pushing, and twisting motions.
  • Environmental factors for this role include exposure to heat/cold, dust, chemicals, noise, and heights.
  • This position involves handling chemicals, some of which may be hazardous, requiring proper training, protective equipment, and adherence to safety practices. Successful completion of spirometry and physical assessments is mandatory.
