Key Responsibilities:


The Surgical Technologist II, under the general guidance of the OR Manager/Surgery Center Manager, is an integral member of the surgical team, collaborating with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesiologists, certified nurse anesthetists, and other support staff primarily focused on scrubbing for surgical procedures.

Additional responsibilities include managing instruments, supplies, medications, media, specimens, and instrument cases. Once fully trained, the Surgical Technologist II will take on call responsibilities.

Exhibits a thorough understanding of aseptic principles and prioritizes patient and staff safety in all tasks. Responsible for efficiently managing the surgical field to minimize waste of supplies and equipment while maintaining inventory and equipment in designated specialties.

Demonstrates proficiency in scrubbing for various surgical specialties, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation.


Utilizes prior clinical experience and knowledge to address immediate patient care challenges, as assessed by supervisory observation and peer feedback.


Collaborates with ORT Coordinators to facilitate the implementation of new policies or procedures and supports existing protocols, as measured by supervisory observation and peer feedback.


Works alongside ORT Coordinators and Team Leaders to ensure the accuracy of procedure cards, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Assists in validating OR personnel in specialized equipment, as assessed by direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.


Helps maintain inventory for assigned specialties as directed by the ORT Coordinator or Team Leader, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Utilizes supplies and institutional resources responsibly, as measured by direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Ensures the upkeep of all assigned specialty equipment, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Collaborates with others to identify budgetary and replacement needs for surgical specialty supplies and equipment, as assessed by direct supervisory observation.

Actively engages in the evaluation of products, supplies, and instruments with a focus on cost-effectiveness and quality, as measured by direct supervisory observation.


Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment and personal appearance, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation and feedback from patients and coworkers.

Capable and willing to mentor new ORTs across most specialties, as assessed by direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Coordinates training efforts with the ORT Coordinator and Nurse Educator, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Serves as a mentor and resource for fellow staff members, as assessed by direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Assumes call duties as scheduled, as evaluated through direct supervisory observation and peer feedback.

Participates in staffing patterns that reflect the variable demands of service, as assessed by direct supervisory observation.

Exhibits knowledge of skills, teamwork, and consideration for others in behavior.

Qualifications:

Education:
High School Diploma or GED, required

Must meet one of the following:
Successful completion of a nationally accredited surgical technologist education program and maintain a certified surgical technologist credential from a recognized credentialing organization, OR

Completion of a surgical technology training program in the U.S. military branches, OR

Evidence of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within a specified timeframe; OR

Service in the federal government performing duties related to surgical technology.

Education in an accredited program for licensed practical nursing is also acceptable.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a surgical technologist, required

Minimum of 1 year of hospital experience as an OR Technologist, required

Licensure/Certifications:
Certification of hospital experience as an OR Technologist, required

BLS certification within 6 months from the date of hire, preferred

Pay Transparency Statement:


Salary is determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.

The compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by A.O. Fox at the time of this posting.


Min:
USD $22.40/Hr.

Max:
USD $33.61/Hr.
