Key Responsibilities

Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) Responsibilities:

  • Formulate, execute, and uphold security protocols, procedures, and guidelines for systems classified at the SECRET level.
  • Conduct thorough security evaluations, audits, and inspections to guarantee adherence to DoD, NIST, and other pertinent security frameworks.
  • Identify, monitor, and address security incidents and vulnerabilities, ensuring prompt and effective resolutions.
  • Maintain and revise system security plans (SSPs), risk assessments, and essential documentation.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and IT personnel to ensure secure configurations and ongoing monitoring.
  • Deliver security training and awareness programs for personnel accessing secure systems.

Alternate Facility Security Officer (AFSO) Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the physical security of designated secure areas, ensuring compliance with government regulations and corporate policies.
  • Manage access control, visitor protocols, and security clearance processes for personnel.
  • Conduct security briefings, debriefings, and training sessions for staff and contractors.
  • Update and maintain facility security plans, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and emergency action plans.
  • Engage with government security representatives and agencies to ensure compliance and address security issues.
  • Perform self-assessments and assist with security inspections and audits by external agencies.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Security, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice) or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in information systems security and/or facility security.
  • Strong understanding of DoD, NIST, and other applicable security standards and regulations.
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies, including vulnerability management and access control systems.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-security environment.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+ are highly regarded.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling classified information and managing secure facilities.
  • Prior experience in an ISSO or FSO role.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Monitoring and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
