Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Operations Coordinator to join our team at UF Health. As a key member of our financial services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits, and obtain prior authorizations as needed.
  • Prepare and communicate estimates for multiple services prior to service, and identify and collect prepayments.
  • Provide in-depth financial counseling and establish payment plans for patients.
  • Obtain sponsorship for uninsured patients, and update demographic and financial data for UFHP and UF Health System.
  • Maintain surgical calendars, manage utilization of scheduled OR time, and prioritize and post surgical cases.
  • Coordinate multiple special needs for each patient's operative experience to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Communicate with physicians, patients, and payors to produce a seamless process.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Three years of business/financial/physician practice experience required.
  • Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/10 diagnosis coding required.
  • EPIC system knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills required.

Working Conditions:

This position may require floating to other practices or flexing time as needed for staffing.
