Job Summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a skilled Optical Dispenser to join our team. As an Optical Dispenser, you will be responsible for interpreting ophthalmic spectacle prescriptions and delivering, adjusting, and repairing eyewear to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect eyewear and coordinated orders prior to delivery
  • Dispense eyewear using the E.A.R.N. for Dispensing process methodology
  • Fit eyewear to patients' faces through various frame adjustments
  • Explain care and maintenance for eyewear, including recommending HFO cleaning regimens
  • Process delivery of eyewear orders in software programs
  • Perform frame and lens repairs
  • Troubleshoot vision, lens, and frame issues, including verifying prescriptions and adjusting face form
  • Communicate preferred lens family products and benefits
  • Manage delivery status reports and assist with placing patient orders
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Previous computer experience and basic math skills
  • Previous customer service, hospitality, or retail experience
  • Previous dispensing/optical experience
  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods
Working Conditions

Works in retail optical environment, requires evening and weekend hours.
