About the Role

VCU Health is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Patient Registrar to join our team. As a key member of our Patient Appointment Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and register patients for ambulatory appointments, surgeries, and medical consultations.
  • Verify pre-authorization and referrals, and confirm patient diagnostic appointments.
  • Accurately obtain and document patient information for hospital and physician records, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payer needs.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills and a patient-centered focus.
  • Previous experience with third-party medical insurance, HMO, and managed care (preferred).
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding (preferred).
  • Experience with GE/IDX or Cerner systems (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Business Management or a closely related field from an accredited program.
  • Post-high school education in healthcare or medical billing coursework.
Working Conditions

This is a phone-based customer service position, requiring prolonged sitting, reaching, and repetitive motion. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities, and adapt to frequent change.
