The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to foster a supportive and inclusive university community for Middle Eastern and North African students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive plans to advance MENA student success, retention, and engagement.
- Program Development and Management: Design and manage programs, services, and initiatives to support MENA students, including academic support, cultural events, and community engagement.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster strong relationships with campus stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and student organizations, to promote MENA student success and inclusion.
- Teaching and Education: Teach courses and provide education on the history, culture, and experiences of the Middle East and North Africa.
- Policy Development and Advocacy: Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and advocate for the needs of MENA students and faculty.
- Communication and Outreach: Develop and maintain effective communication channels with MENA students, faculty, and staff, and promote university-wide initiatives and events.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Develop and implement assessment and evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness of MENA initiatives and programs.
- Master's Degree: Required.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of progressive experience in program development, recruitment, retention, and support activities for MENA and underrepresented students in higher education, non-profit agencies, community organizations, public school districts, or governmental units.
- Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work some evenings and weekends, and ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
- Doctoral Degree: Earned Doctorate or terminal degree in relevant academic field and (5 years) progressive experience in program development, recruitment, retention, and support activities for MENA and underrepresented students in higher education, non-profit agencies, community organizations, public school districts, or governmental units.
- Teaching Experience: Experience teaching at the college level.
- Program Development: Experience assisting in developing intercultural programs at the university level.
- Strategic Planning: A demonstrated understanding of strategic planning, experience utilizing data and assessment to inform decision making, and effective program advocacy skills.
- Cultural Competence: Experience working effectively with young adults/adolescents, families, faculty, senior administration and staff members within a similar higher education setting.
