We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Nuclear Command Communications Systems Group (QKR), you will play a critical role in developing and implementing innovative solutions for national defense challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and direction to new systems development efforts in the strategic defense domain.
- Participate as a member of the Government team to ensure developed systems meet user needs while mitigating program risks.
- Identify and conduct analysis required to influence system design and assess system performance.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to solve complex problems and develop robust and sophisticated modeling and simulation capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- At least ten years of relevant experience in a technical position, working on systems/software engineering, system definition, design, and development, system architecture, and/or test and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in system/software engineering methodologies principles and concepts to solve systems-related challenges.
- Working knowledge of algorithm development and/or analysis using scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, C++, Java, or Python.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- At least fifteen years of relevant experience in a technical position, with experience leading a team of engineers and/or scientists, with demonstrated results.
- Demonstrated experience working with Government and Military leadership, presenting complex analysis, and ability to coordinate across a geographically dispersed team to deliver exceptional results.
