Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Attorney to join our team at Legal Aid of Northwest Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality legal representation to low-income individuals in civil matters, including housing, public benefits, and probate cases.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to public interest law and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, community partners, and other stakeholders. A strong understanding of Texas law and procedures is essential, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Staff Attorney will work closely with our community partners to provide civil legal services to eligible clients, including conducting intake, gathering evidence, advising clients, and representing them in court. The successful candidate will also be responsible for designing and carrying out outreach and community legal education programs, as well as supervising and coordinating activities of legal, clerical, volunteer, or student workers.

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas
  • Prior experience handling contested housing, public benefits, and/or probate cases preferred
  • Prior legal services, public interest, or volunteer experience serving low-income persons preferred
  • Fluent in Spanish - both verbal and written is preferred
  • Ability to engage in occasional work-related travel
