Reporting To: Aquatics Superintendent

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Head Guards and the Aquatics Superintendent, Lifeguards play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service to facility members. They are tasked with enforcing facility regulations, ensuring the safety of patrons, and responding effectively to emergencies. Lifeguards are expected to demonstrate proficiency in American Red Cross lifeguarding techniques, maintain a high level of professionalism, and treat all individuals with fairness and respect.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remain vigilant and prepared to respond to emergencies while on duty.
  • Prevent accidents by enforcing all policies and regulations governing pool usage.
  • Identify emergencies, implement the facility's Emergency Action Plan, and provide necessary rescue and first aid services.
  • Check in patrons as they enter the facility.
  • Answer inquiries and educate patrons on facility policies and regulations.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure a safe and hygienic aquatic environment.
  • Inspect pool facilities and equipment to maintain safety standards.
  • Monitor facility operations and maintain order in the pool area.
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies set by the Aquatics Department and relevant health authorities.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and morale.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with patrons and colleagues.
  • Present a neat appearance in uniform and personal hygiene.
  • Be available for early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete necessary records and reports as required.
  • Identify and address potentially hazardous situations.
  • Respond appropriately to various emergencies, including medical situations.
  • Make informed decisions in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Possess knowledge of lifeguarding techniques for effective emergency response.
  • Understand operational procedures and safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patrons and staff.

Work Schedule

Part-time, approximately 10-30 hours per week, including potential days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Warm and humid conditions with exposure to treated pool water.

Additional Requirements

American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications must be obtained upon hire.
