Job Title: Academic and Career Advisor

Join the College of Southern Maryland as an Academic and Career Advisor, where you will play a vital role in supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.

About the Role:

This position is responsible for providing academic and career advising support to students, including assisting with registration, career development, and transfer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of community college operations and be able to work effectively with a diverse population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic and career advising support to students, including assisting with registration and career development.
  • Assist students with transfer requirements and articulation agreements.
  • Collect and report monthly statistics to the Director of Advising & Career Services.
  • Serve as campus contact for ACS Data.
  • Promote credit and continuing education courses and programs.
  • Serve on various committees that impact the vision of the department.
  • Provide referrals to campus and community resources regarding student issues.
Requirements:
  • BS or BA degree required with two years' experience in career development, education, advising or four year's experience in related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in assisting students in a college setting in academic and/or career development.
  • Community College experience, preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting, preferred.
