Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic/Service Technician to join our team at Steed Metals. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on various machinery, including crushers, balers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on equipment, ensuring timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain workflow.
  • Preventive Care: Implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend the life of equipment and reduce the frequency of breakdowns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborative Support: Work closely with other technicians and operational staff to identify equipment needs and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies when performing maintenance and repairs, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry standards and technology advancements.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanics or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in equipment maintenance and repair, preferably in a recycling or manufacturing environment.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment necessary for repairs.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively; strong communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to maintaining a positive work environment.
