NxT Level is seeking a highly skilled Substation Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our utilities division, you will be responsible for designing and developing high voltage substations for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop detailed designs for high voltage substations, including general arrangement, equipment layout, elevations, and sections.
  • Develop bus and cable layout and calculations, as well as grounding design and analysis.
  • Design and analyze shielding, facility lighting, single and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring and connection diagrams, and foundation layout and design.
  • Prepare calculations for faults, grounding, lightning protection, rigid bus bracing and support, transformer sizing, AC and DC auxiliary system sizing, arrester and insulator coordination and selection, and project specifications for materials, equipment, and construction requirements.
  • Provide design support for electrical power supply elements in street lighting and traffic signal designs.
  • Select substation IEDs and interface SCADA, communications, and security systems.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in NEC and NESC code requirements.
  • Experience with power utilization equipment, including switchgear, protective relays, breakers, transformers, motors, and generators.
  • 5-10 years of experience in high voltage electric substation design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or an EIT willing to take the PE test within 12 months.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
