About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Engineer to join our team of architecture, engineering, and design professionals. As a key member of our transportation and utility services team, you will play a critical role in designing and consulting on transportation systems that connect communities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of high voltage substations, including general arrangement, equipment layout, elevations, and sections.
  • Develop detailed designs for bus and cable layout, grounding, shielding, facility lighting, and single and three-line diagrams.
  • Prepare calculations for faults, grounding, lightning protection, rigid bus bracing and support, transformer sizing, and AC and DC auxiliary system sizing.
  • Develop project specifications for materials, equipment, and construction requirements.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and support electrical power supply elements in street lighting and traffic signal designs.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and NESC code requirements.
  • Experience with power utilization equipment, including switchgear, protective relays, breakers, transformers, motors, and generators.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 5-10 years of experience in high voltage electric substation design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with willingness to acquire licenses in other states.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
