About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Integrated Power Services. As a key member of our service center operations team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement and customer satisfaction by managing the deployment of our operational framework.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management to build a world-class team in safety, engineering, quality, customer service, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Financial Performance: Achieve financial targets in the service center Annual Operating Plan (AOP) through management of repair job margin.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure proper procedures and standards are in place and conform to customer requirements, such as inspections, data collection, and delivery of materials, are being met and IPS Standard of Work (SOW) requirements.
  • Customer Focus: Develop and monitor monthly priority lists to meet customer delivery requirements and monthly financial goals.
  • Process Improvement: Assist with developing work plans, operations scheduling, expediting material, and time estimates to the work operation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Direct hourly workers to work safely and actively participate in all site-specific safety audits, incident reports, training, Job Hazard Analysis, LOTOs, housekeeping, and inspection activities.
  • Accountability and Training: Enforce accountability at all levels with consistent record-keeping and training.
  • Staffing and Labor Management: Plan, direct, and coordinate hourly labor requirements on the shop floor to support the incoming tear-downs, inspections, and production repair jobs.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Lead the effort to improve key customer-facing metrics: (Quality, Time to Quote, Approval to Ship, and Ship to Invoice) as well as key IPS metrics: (Safety, Margin Performance vs. Work Plans, Labor Utilization, Direct and Indirect Costs).
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Technical Background: Technical background with electrical and/or mechanical products.
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Operations with industrial supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Work Experience: 10 or more years of work experience, including fast-paced supervisory experience in a service and manufacturing environment.
  • Skills and Competencies: Comprehensive knowledge of motor and pump repair services, including machining, electrical testing, and assembling processes. Experience using an operations system production and materials control systems. Strong understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing concepts, and production schedules. Proficient in the use of computers and office equipment, MS Office, and IPS business systems.
  • Interpersonal and Supervisory Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication/language skills required to include the ability to provide written and verbal instructions, compile, and present business reports/correspondence, and present information clearly. Interpersonal and supervisory skills, such as emotional competency, coaching, providing feedback, and evaluating performance of subordinates, and the ability to coach and motivate employees.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and reasoning ability for solving problems and good judgment for decision-making.
