Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field in Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, accompanied by at least 8 years of pertinent experience; or a Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. A background in systems engineering is essential, along with leadership experience that encompasses cost, scheduling, and technical management.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: A Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at the time of hiring. Selected candidates will undergo a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility criteria for access to classified information. U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities.

Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Project Manager in our Progeny Business Area, you will oversee a program and lead a team of engineers dedicated to the successful delivery of advanced Torpedo Guidance and Control systems for the U.S. Navy. This role includes advancing the technical vision of GDMS, fulfilling customer commitments, and promoting innovation. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills and a keen interest in quickly learning and adapting to new technologies, maximizing their potential, and critically assessing the needs of the warfighter. Successful candidates will be effective communicators, passionate about technical advancement, intellectually curious, and highly motivated to lead and develop a cross-functional team.

Technical Objectives:

  • Exhibit technical excellence in engineering or related technology domains, recognized as a technical lead with extensive experience across a wide range of relevant development technologies.
  • Contribute significantly as a technical expert to major development and production systems, adept at applying and executing advanced technological principles, theories, and concepts; proficient in problem-solving within complex environments.
  • Oversee program technical performance (aligned with cost, scope, and schedule) for all engineering efforts, ensuring project requirements are integrated, tested, and verified, resulting in high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed all technical and schedule criteria.
  • Lead and manage the resolution of technical challenges, communicate solutions effectively, and ensure implementation.
  • Develop and maintain engineering plans, risks, and opportunities, adhere to change management processes, and ensure compliance with GDMS and program-specific standards and practices.

  • Demonstrate leadership, team-building, and motivational capabilities.
  • Communicate effectively, with experience leading high-performing teams and engaging with senior members of the company and customer communities.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Engineering Leadership, Chief Engineers, and Program Managers to plan, authorize, and monitor engineering work, providing strong leadership to ensure all activities proceed as planned.
  • Work with functional managers to assemble the project team with the necessary engineering skills and capabilities.
  • Conduct monthly engineering status reviews and prepare materials for monthly program reviews, implementing effective corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspire the engineering team and clarify project objectives, providing performance feedback and management for the project team, taking prompt and decisive action in addressing technical and performance issues.
  • Manage engineering resources (e.g., staff assignments, capital equipment) and organizational interfaces.
  • Provide insights to engineering leadership regarding potential areas for Research and Development.
