Responsibilities for this Position:
Progeny Systems, a division of General Dynamics Mission Systems, is at the forefront of software and hardware system integration, pioneering research and development, and manufacturing. We specialize in delivering architectures, designs, testing, and production of advanced torpedo guidance and control systems for the Department of Defense, enhancing the capabilities of the warfighter in target detection, acquisition, and engagement.

As an Engineering Project Manager (DPME) within our Progeny Business Area, you will oversee a program and lead a team of engineers dedicated to the successful delivery of sophisticated Torpedo Guidance and Control systems for the U.S. Navy. This role involves advancing the GDMS technical vision, fulfilling customer commitments, and encouraging innovation. Candidates should exhibit strong leadership skills and a keen interest in rapidly learning and adapting to new technologies, maximizing their potential, and critically assessing the needs of the warfighter. Successful candidates will be exceptional communicators, passionate about technical advancement, intellectually curious, and highly motivated to lead and develop a cross-functional team.

  • Exhibit technical excellence in engineering or related technology fields, recognized as a technical lead with extensive experience across a wide range of relevant development technologies.
  • Act as a significant technical contributor to major development and production systems, adept at applying and executing advanced technological principles, theories, and concepts, while effectively solving problems in complex environments.
  • Oversee program technical performance, ensuring alignment with cost, scope, and schedule for all engineering efforts, resulting in high-quality deliverables that meet or exceed all technical and schedule requirements.
  • Lead and manage the resolution of technical challenges, communicate solutions, and ensure implementation.
  • Develop and maintain engineering plans, risks, and opportunities, adhere to change management processes, and ensure compliance with GDMS and program-specific standards and practices.

  • Conduct monthly engineering status reviews and provide materials for program reviews, implementing effective corrective actions as needed.

  • Manage engineering resources, organizational interfaces, and engineering scope effectively.
  • Provide insights to engineering leadership regarding potential areas for Research and Development.
