Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Scheduling Coordinator to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, managing patient information, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule patient appointments in accordance with physician-specific guidelines and patient preferences
  • Collect and maintain accurate patient information, including demographic and insurance data
  • Answer general inquiries and direct non-scheduling calls to the appropriate department
  • Process messages related to patient and physician requests, including appointments, referrals, and prescriptions
  • Assist with training initiatives for new hires and contribute to contact center metrics and performance expectations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred
  • One year of experience in healthcare, customer service, or a related field required; experience in EPIC or other electronic medical records preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency in advanced Windows-style applications and various software packages specific to the role
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain friendly and cooperative work relationships
Working Conditions

This is a sedentary role that involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing. The incumbent will not be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissue, and will not be required to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
