Job Summary

We are seeking a highly dependable and detail-oriented Steward to join our team. As a Steward, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils. You will also be expected to maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition.

Responsibilities
  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand if necessary
  • Retrieve clean silverware, plates, and glassware from washing areas and polish
  • Clean garbage cans with water or steam
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition
  • Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas and keep everything in organized order
  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas
  • Clean and prepare various foods for cooking or serving if asked by the chef
  • Sweep and scrub floors in the kitchen
  • Use designated polishing cloth for polishing - different for different materials
  • Inspect silverware, plates, and glassware for possible chips and discoloration and mark defects to ensure they are not used in circulation
  • Notify the chef or department manager if there is a shortage of any particular pots, pans, silverware, plates, or glassware
  • Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
  • Ability to perform any other duties as assigned by the chef or department manager
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job
  • Food Safety and Sanitation Training
Working Conditions
  • Frequently stands, uses hands, talks, listens, tastes, and smells
  • Regularly walks and reaches with hands and arms
  • Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls
  • Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds
  • Regularly works in extreme heat (non-weather) and near moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally works in extreme cold (non-weather), wet or humid conditions (non-weather), near toxic or caustic chemicals, and in outdoor weather
  • Noise level is moderate
