Job Responsibilities
As a Facilities Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all building systems and equipment. This includes routinely assessing operating conditions and collaborating with supervisors to address any unusual operational issues. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Responding promptly and courteously to tenant requests in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Maintaining professional and ethical relationships with contractors and tenants.
  • Fostering a collaborative working environment with the operations team.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, including pumps, chillers, boilers, air compressors, and air handling units.
  • Adjusting HVAC and related equipment to maintain established operating criteria as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Troubleshooting and performing general repairs on building components, including plumbing and electrical systems, lighting, and control systems.
  • Familiarizing oneself with the company's Engineering Standards and assisting in managing property-specific engineering programs.
  • Maintaining operational logs and files, including central plant operations and chemical consumption logs.
  • Applying knowledge of HVAC distribution and controls to resolve work orders.
  • Demonstrating competency in emergency procedures, including assisting with evacuations and responding to alarms.
  • Adhering to all company policies and safety regulations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Participating in required training and development activities.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of experience in commercial HVAC or related fields.
  • Successful completion of the company's introductory engineering training program.
  • Functional knowledge of Engineering Assessment Guidelines.
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment and basic hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capacity to maintain composure in emergency situations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more and access confined spaces.
