Job Title: Marine Pipefitter

The Marine Pipefitter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for the installation, fabrication, and maintenance of piping systems on marine vessels. This role requires a strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and tools, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lay out and fabricate piping systems to meet technical specifications
  • Install prepared pipe into established piping systems
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and weld symbols
  • Perform quality control inspections and identify potential problems
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet project deadlines
  • Operate various tools and equipment, including blow torches, motorized cutting torches, and welding torches
Work Environment:

This role operates in a fast-paced shipyard environment, with frequent exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and loud noises. The Marine Pipefitter must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

The Marine Pipefitter must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a variety of postures. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience in pipefitting or a related trade
  • Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a variety of weather conditions
