Emergency Department Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Mount Sinai West. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist professional staff with the delivery of services to patients in a variety of settings.
- Provide direct patient care, including vital signs, pulse oximetry, and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Perform patient observations, including safety and constant/one-to-one observation under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Assist with patient transportation and escort patients as needed.
- Perform and assist with designated procedures, using aseptic technique as indicated.
- Assist with patient examinations and obtain and provide nourishment for patients.
- Provide minor treatments as directed, including dressings, application of ace bandages, and applications of slings and ice.
- Assist with application of casts and splints and prepare, adjust, and teach the use of crutches and canes.
- Collect specimens, perform venipunctures, and fingersticks for blood glucose.
- Obtain EKGs as ordered and assist patients to get needed services by communicating those needs to the nurse.
- Communicate information to patients, families, and visitors and provide post-mortem care.
- Set up, stock, and maintain examining rooms and perform eye irrigations.
- Maintain BCLS certification as required by EMS standards.
- Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant Program or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- American Heart Association BLS Certification.
- Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
