Position Overview

Matchbox has been a beloved dining destination since its inception in 2003, celebrated for its artisanal wood-fired pizzas, gourmet mini burgers, fresh salads, and chef-driven entrees such as pan-seared sea bass and oven-roasted filet mignon. Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests and efficiently take and fulfill orders in line with service standards, which includes standing and moving behind the bar throughout shifts.
  • Ensure precise drink measurements and consistent quality in beverage preparation.
  • Engage with patrons to foster a welcoming atmosphere and build lasting relationships.
  • Adhere to opening and closing protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the food and beverage menu, providing accurate information to guests.
  • Process orders through the point of sale system and handle payments following established cash handling procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, which may involve physical tasks such as lifting and bending.
  • Comply with local health and safety regulations regarding food and beverage handling.
  • Verify the age of guests to ensure compliance with legal drinking age laws.
  • Complete assigned side-work tasks and strive to meet sales targets set by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a high-volume, upscale casual dining environment; prior experience as a server is advantageous.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 10 hours.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
  • Must be of legal age to serve and prepare alcoholic beverages.
  • Flexible availability for shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Certification in responsible alcohol service is preferred.
  • High energy and stamina are essential for success in this dynamic role.
  • Effective communication skills in the primary language of the workplace, both verbal and written.
