Position Overview: Registered Nurse (RN) - 8W MICU

Work Schedule

Full-time position; 36 hours per week.

Available shifts: Nights or Rotating.

Role Summary

The Registered Nurse will independently plan and deliver professional nursing care to patients, adhering to physician directives and established protocols. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing services to patients and their families, consistent with the RN scope as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and document nursing care plans based on patient assessments and physician orders.
  • Oversee and guide the activities of both licensed and unlicensed care staff.
  • Support nursing colleagues in delivering care and take on leadership roles as needed.
  • Ensure a safe and effective care environment by monitoring equipment and resources.
  • Engage in professional development by maintaining competencies and seeking educational opportunities.
  • Act as a mentor to new staff and students, fostering their professional growth.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives within the clinical setting.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is required.
  • Registered nurses hired without a BSN are encouraged to enroll in a program within two years of employment.

Experience

  • A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience is necessary. Exceptional performers with six months of experience may be considered.

Licensure and Certification

  • Current RN licensure in North Carolina is mandatory. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of the roles of registered nurses and other healthcare providers.
  • Proficient in applying the nursing process effectively.
  • Ability to assess the needs of patients and their families.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Competence in documenting patient care and utilizing healthcare technology.
