Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Operations Associate to join our dynamic team at Modern Hydrogen. This role involves the operation and upkeep of advanced mechanical and chemical processing systems. You will be responsible for assembling and refining test setups, improving procedural documentation, and contributing to various projects within a fast-paced research setting.

This position operates during the night shift, with hours from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, Monday through Friday, and may occasionally require weekend work.

This is an onsite position, necessitating your presence at our facility. Participation in quarterly company gatherings is also expected, aimed at enhancing colleague relationships and fostering a collaborative work environment.

About Modern Hydrogen: We are a pioneering cleantech startup based in Seattle, dedicated to transforming natural gas into clean hydrogen at the point of consumption. With significant venture capital backing, we are on a mission to decarbonize challenging sectors of the economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain mechanical and chemical processing systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assemble test setups and other equipment based on technical specifications.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to procedural documentation.
  • Support a variety of projects in a fast-paced, innovative research environment.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean workspace while promoting continuous improvement.
  • Travel may be required for project sites across the United States, up to 20% of the time.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in fields such as oil and gas, chemical processing, or machinery maintenance.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Proficient in using standard tools (e.g., drills, wrenches).
  • Ability to follow written instructions and technical schematics.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and communication tools.
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test as per site requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with chemical processing equipment.
  • Leadership qualities in safety and teamwork.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Clear and concise communication of technical information.
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing environments.
