POSITION PURPOSE:

The Wastewater Treatment Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of oil recovery and wastewater treatment facilities. This includes managing processing, disposal, and testing equipment to ensure the purification of oil and water in compliance with permit and operational standards.


PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitor operational conditions, meters, and gauges.

2. Collect and analyze water and sewage samples.

3. Document meter and gauge readings along with operational data.

4. Operate machinery to purify and clarify water or to process and dispose of waste.

5. Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and surrounding work areas.

6. Conduct regular inspections of all equipment.

7. Adhere to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations.

8. Ensure compliance with safety standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment:
The work schedule is Monday through Friday during the first shift, with additional hours required every second or third week.

Employees will spend 100% of their time in an operational environment, which may include outdoor work in adverse weather conditions and driving a company vehicle to fulfill job responsibilities.

Possible Work Hazards:

Exposure to operational hazards may include fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, heavy machinery, high pressure, extreme temperatures, slippery surfaces, water hazards, and electrical equipment.


Physical Demands:
Time spent on various activities includes – Standing 25%, Walking 75%, potentially covering up to five miles per shift.

While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to use their hands for handling, reaching, and communicating. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be necessary, as well as entering confined spaces. Use of ladders or stairs may also be required.

Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (occasionally 60 pounds). Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Close visual observation is essential to detect process non-conformance and equipment malfunctions.
