Position Overview:
The Specialized Instruction Coach will lead, support, and provide professional development focused on best practices in specially designed instruction. This role emphasizes the alignment of specially designed instruction with access to the Core curriculum. The coach will collaborate closely with the Teacher Leadership Team, District Administration, and teaching staff to ensure the delivery of the District Vision of Every Learner: Future Ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate professional learning experiences for educators.
- Support teachers in implementing equity principles and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Train and coach on the New Art and Science of Teaching.
- Engage in the High Reliability Schools framework.
- Utilize research-based strategies to enhance digital literacy.
- Design and present adult learning sessions.
- Conduct professional learning activities and mentoring.
- Understand and apply the Iowa Core Standards and Standards-Based Grading.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Reflective and growth-oriented mindset.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Ability to foster trusting relationships with educators and administrators.
- Experience in the Professional Learning Community process.
- Standard Teaching License with a minimum of five years of teaching experience, preferably within the Cedar Rapids Community School District.
Measures of Effectiveness:
All Teacher Leader Positions will undergo annual evaluations to facilitate reflection and feedback aimed at enhancing professional growth. The evaluation procedure will adhere to the CRCSD standards, utilizing a rubric to monitor development and performance.

The Specialized Instruction Coach will be dedicated to supporting the growth of others, recognizing that adult learning is integral to student success. This role requires a collaborative spirit and a proactive approach to problem-solving while maintaining a positive attitude.
