Job Summary:

As a Mental Health Consultant with Career Systems Development Corporation, you will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring the Mental Health Program. This program aims to provide comprehensive mental health services to students, including staff development, mental health counseling, and case management. The successful candidate will work closely with the Center Director and Health Services staff to ensure the program's success.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement mental health programs and services for students, including staff development and training.
  • Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and case management services to students.
  • Collaborate with Health Services staff to provide chronic care management for students with mental health disabilities.
  • Develop and lead psycho-educational skill-building groups to promote wellness and prevent mental health issues.
  • Participate in regular case management meetings with counselors and other staff to ensure student needs are met.
  • Provide on-call mental health services for emergencies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Conduct mental health evaluations and refer students for psychiatric care as needed.
  • Make referrals to off-center mental health professionals or agencies for ongoing treatment and specialized services.
  • Document and submit forms and correspondence to local, state, and federal agencies to meet program requirements.
  • Attend staff training sessions as required.
Requirements:

Minimum: Active, unrestricted license to practice as an independent practitioner in the state where the center is located. Clinical/Counseling Psychologist or Clinical Social Worker with a minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed independent practitioner providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults.

Preferred: Minimum qualifications plus Job Corps experience.

Knowledge: Knowledge of mental health issues affecting disadvantaged youth. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to relate to disadvantaged young adults and develop a rapport with students and staff. Ability to make sound decisions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and effectively present information to management, government representatives, and students. Strong assessment skills. Flexible work schedule.
