Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a key member of our team at Verity CPAs, you will play a vital role in supporting the Tax and Accounting Service Partner in overseeing and enhancing the monthly accounting operations. Your commitment to delivering exceptional service will greatly benefit our diverse small business clientele.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluate monthly financial reports generated by associates and paraprofessionals for accounting service clients.
  2. Assist the Tax and Accounting Service Partner in managing daily operations within the accounting service department to ensure efficient and effective completion of client work.
  3. Guide paraprofessional and associate staff in developing their monthly accounting service protocols for designated clients, ensuring thorough documentation within the firm's workflow.
  4. Provide assistance to tax and accounting service team members in addressing client inquiries and requests.
  5. Oversee the preparation of business and individual tax returns for our small business clients.
  6. Manage the workflow processes of the accounting service department, including onboarding and training for associates and paraprofessionals, under the guidance of the Tax and Accounting Service Partner.
  7. Conduct regular check-ins with accounting service associates and paraprofessionals to ensure alignment and support.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Offer coverage for monthly accounting service client tasks during the absence of associates or paraprofessionals.
  2. Support the Tax and Accounting Service Partner in monitoring the time and billing practices of the accounting service department.
  3. Oversee the retention and organization of the firm's accounting and legal records, ensuring secure storage and quick access.
  4. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Proficient with technology and eager to learn new software.
  2. Bachelor's degree required, ideally in accounting, finance, or business.
  3. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  4. Genuine passion for supporting small businesses and contributing to their success.
  5. Friendly, confident, and positive demeanor.
  6. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to provide insightful recommendations to clients.
  7. Minimum of 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience in accounting preferred.
  8. Experience in tax return preparation (1040, 1065, 1120) is preferred.
  9. Prior experience at a CPA firm is advantageous.
  10. CPA or EA certification is preferred.
  11. QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is a plus.
  12. Familiarity with the following software and accounting concepts is essential:
    1. QuickBooks and Xero
    2. CCH Axcess tax software
    3. Microsoft Office Suite
    4. Reconciliations
    5. Journal entries
    6. Debits and credits
    7. Understanding of various business entities
    8. Knowledge of individual income, small business, and payroll tax regulations
    9. Experience with third-party payroll processing via Gusto or ADP
