About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team at First Community Bank Utah. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for assisting customers with their mortgage lending needs, analyzing loan requests, and making necessary credit decisions while adhering to mortgage lending policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Origination Techniques: Develop and implement origination techniques, including sales and analytical skills, to support customers seeking a mortgage loan.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay informed about current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending.
  • Loan Evaluation: Review and evaluate information on mortgage loan documents to determine if borrower, property, and loan conditions meet Bank and regulatory standards.
  • Loan Approval: Approve or reject loan applications or request additional information as needed.
  • Secondary Market Evaluation: Evaluate the acceptability of loans on secondary mortgage markets.
  • Borrower Education: Educate borrowers on the terms and conditions of approved loans and their financial responsibility for the loan.
  • Delinquency Management: Call or visit customers who are delinquent on their loan payments (may not be applicable to brokered loans).
  • Bank Protection: Protect the Bank from fraud and reputation risk on all levels.
  • Marketing and Cross-Selling: Market the Bank's mortgage lending program to companies and individuals within the real estate community and cross-sell other Bank services.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Compliance: Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
About You:

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Past Mortgage Lending Experience: Required
  • Education: Equivalent to a college degree
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills, including the ability to motivate or influence others, are essential for this role.
  • Cooperation: Cooperation with internal and external stakeholders is an important part of this job.
  • Technical Skills: 10-key calculator and keyboard skills are required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree: Business-related field or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Reliable Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different branch locations.
  • Mortgage Loan Software: Knowledgeable in the use of mortgage loan software and automated underwriting systems.
  • Program Guidelines: Educated in program guidelines for mortgage lending products offered through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, FTC, and VA.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance is met in regards to all regulations.
  • Pricing and Locking: Understand pricing and locking mortgage interest rates.
  • Loan Volume: Produce assigned loan volume (dollars and/or numbers).
  • Delinquency Rate: Maintain a delinquency rate at or below 1% of loan portfolio (may not be applicable to brokered loans).
  • Loan Standards: Ensure that all approved loans comply with established loan standards.
  • Sales: Sell assigned volume of Bank products and services.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for customers and co-workers.
Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:
  • National Mortgage Licensing System: Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active and current with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
