About the Role:
We are searching for an ambitious and experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our growing Mortgage Loan Team Servicing the Layton Hills, Morgan, and Mountain Green Branches with support to the other FCBU locations across the Davis county. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops origination techniques including sales and analytic skills in order to support customers seeking a mortgage loan
- Keeps informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage lending.
- Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if borrower, property, and loan conditions meet Bank and regulatory standards.
- Approves or rejects loan application or requests additional information.
- Evaluates acceptability of loan on secondary mortgage markets.
- Educates the borrower on the terms and conditions of an approved loan and their financial responsibility of the loan.
- Calls or visits customers who are delinquent on their loan payment (may not be applicable to brokered loans).
- Protects the Bank on all levels from fraud and reputation risk.
- Markets the Bank's mortgage lending program to companies and individuals within the real estate community.
- Cross-sells other Bank services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
About You:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:
- Past mortgage lending experience is required
- Equivalent to a college degree
- The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust.
- Cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.
- Must have good communication skills; 10-key calculator and keyboard skills required.
- Bachelor's Degree Business related field or equivalent experience (preferred)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to different branch locations
- Knowledgeable in the use of mortgage loan software and automated underwriting systems
- Educated in program guidelines for mortgage lending products offered through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, FTC and VA.
- Ensure compliance is met in regards to all regulations. Must have an understanding of pricing and locking mortgage interest rates.

Produce assigned loan volume (dollars and/or numbers).
Maintain a delinquency rate at or below 1% of loan portfolio (may not be applicable to brokered loans).
Ensure that all approved loans comply with established loan standards.
Sell assigned volume of Bank products and services.
Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for customers and co-workers.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS:
- Incumbents are required to maintain their registration active, and current, with the National Mortgage Licensing System throughout their employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily at a desk and traveling by vehicle to meet with customers.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Occassionally may require lifting of up-to 20 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.
