Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Instructional Aide - Bilingual to join our team at Green Dot Public Schools. As an Instructional Aide - Bilingual, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, particularly those who are Emergent Bilinguals (English Learners).

Key Responsibilities
  • Discuss classroom lesson plans and learning activities with teachers to implement instructional programs and supports for all Emergent Bilinguals (English Learners).
  • Work individually or with small groups of Emergent Bilinguals to support access to lesson content in various academic subjects based on teacher requests.
  • Communicate with students in English and a designated second language to facilitate instructional processes.
  • Work with small groups of Emergent Bilinguals during core or elective courses by pushing in or pulling out EBs to provide targeted designated instruction.
  • Review assessment results and other data to report progress regarding students' language performance as required; provide input and assist instructors with determining student advancement through established monitoring programs (Ellevation).
  • Complete certification requirements to proctor the yearly English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC).
  • Support the school's implementation of the yearly English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC).
  • Provide translation in parent-teacher conferences or telephone calls with limited or non-English speaking parents; translate or write notes, letters, and other materials.
  • Observe and report behavior of students in and out of the classroom and support implementing the school's behavior policy.
  • Use various technology platforms and applications to support student learning.
  • Assist students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
  • Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training programs, and field trips as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work collaboratively as an educational team member.
Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma (or equivalent) AND one of the following: completion of at least two years of college (48 semester units or 90 quarter units), attainment of an AA (or higher) degree, or passage of the CA Spanish Language Instructional Assistance Test.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
  • Possess strong skills in MS Word and Excel.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written forums.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have six months of experience working with adolescents/children in a structured environment (experience working with adolescents/children requiring a specialized learning environment is preferred, and verifiable supervised experience as a volunteer in a school or related organizational activity may be substituted on an equal basis).
  • Have any other combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge, or abilities may be considered, however, experience cannot substitute for the required minimum education and a willingness to work collaboratively as an educational team member.
  • Be dependable, have a sense of humor, and a rock-solid commitment to Green Dot's mission and the communities we serve.
  • Will need to pass a TB test and background check at time of offer.
  • Will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (submission of proof of vaccination will be required).
