About the Role

Assets Protection (AP) teams at Target ensure the safety and security of our guests, team members, and brand. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, investigating, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product availability for our guests. As a Target Security Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to develop skills in:

  • Intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure
  • Crisis response, safety, and crowd management; providing support to both guests and team members
  • De-escalation techniques and experience with recovering stolen merchandise to prevent shortage
  • Utilizing Target's video surveillance system
  • Properly documenting cases using industry case management systems

Responsibilities

A typical day as a Target Security Specialist may include:

  • Welcoming and engaging guests and team members at the front of store
  • Leading a physical security culture for our team members and guests by assessing and maintaining safe and secure standards throughout the store, including exterior property
  • Responding to and accurately documenting security incidents
  • Understanding and leveraging escalation tools for guest issues to provide a safe and secure environment for our team members and guests
  • Conducting productive merchandise recoveries and providing apprehension support as needed, strictly adhering to AP policies and procedures and AP leadership guidance
  • Preventing theft and shortage at the front of store by performing receipt checks for exposed high-dollar merchandise
  • Submitting appropriate documentation in the system for all incidents following AP policy and procedures
  • Understanding and appropriately using the video system
  • Modeling safe work practices while maintaining a clean store for guests and team members
  • Providing service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest
  • Demonstrating a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
  • Working safely at all times to benefit yourself and others; identifying and correcting hazards; complying with all safety policies and best practices
  • All other duties based on business needs

Requirements

We're looking for team members who are:

  • At least 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
  • Welcoming and helpful toward guests and other team members
  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
  • Effective communication skills
  • Work both independently and with a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
  • Capable of remaining focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplishing multiple tasks within established timeframes
