Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Property Manager to join our team at The John Stewart Company. As a key member of our property management team, you will be responsible for the overall operation of our properties and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and federal, state, and local laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough interviews and screenings of prospective residents to ensure a well-managed and well-maintained building.
  • Prepare, process, and sign leases and rules, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Purchase general supplies and services in accordance with our P.O. policy and procedures.
  • Assist with property inspections and monitoring work orders to ensure timely completion.
  • Collect rent, process receipts, and prepare deposits using our Boston Post property management software.
  • Write warning letters and prepare legal notices to residents as needed.
  • Submit required reports and maintain records according to our company policies.
  • Perform related work and other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Excellent problem-solving, listening, and deductive reasoning skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary.
  • 1-2 years of property management experience, preferably with Tax Credit properties, is required.
  • Prior experience in managing affordable housing complexes is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of company policies, federal, state, and local laws, Tax Credit Section 42, and other relevant rules is essential.
