Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Editor II to join our Research Editorial and Production group at RAND. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in managing the production of RAND publications, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the production of publications, including standard and complex projects, by overseeing budgets, schedules, resources, and task assignments.
  • Provide cost estimates, production timelines, and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records in various systems to support search, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaborate with division leadership, researchers, and other staff to plan publication portfolios and execute collateral duties.
  • Contribute to CEA initiatives, such as software adoption and business-process refinement, and provide documentation and training on best practices.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interest and skill in managing publications and relationships.
  • Prior experience managing publication projects, including print and online products.
  • Thorough knowledge of the publication production arc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Attention to detail and a proven track record of overseeing complex business processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an academic, public policy, or nonprofit publishing environment.
  • Prior experience in editing, typesetting, proofreading, or proof checking.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and production-management systems.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree is required, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. Relevant experience includes managing print and digital publications projects.

Security Clearance

The ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Fitness and a U.S. security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
