Golf Equipment Technician

This role, under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent, ensures the safe, efficient, and effective operation of vehicles and equipment essential for golf course maintenance and construction.
The compensation for this position ranges from $24.47 to $33.03 per hour, with a starting salary of $28.75, contingent upon qualifications and experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees and manages the upkeep of safe and reliable vehicles and equipment by diagnosing issues, conducting preventative maintenance, coordinating workflow, and assessing equipment priorities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with gasoline, diesel, and battery-operated engines, hydraulic systems, tune-ups, ignitions, carburetors, electrical systems, brakes, and more.
Maintains sharp cutting units through reel sharpening, spin grinding, relief grinding, and back lapping.Leads off-season maintenance for all equipment.
Ensures staff are qualified and provides necessary training.
Maintains accurate records of maintenance, parts usage, labor, and downtime.
Purchases and monitors inventory.
Ensures vehicles and equipment are clean and aesthetically pleasing.
Performs bodywork, fabrication, painting, steam cleaning, washing, and waxing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Education:
Completion of two (2) years of mechanical training.
Required Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in servicing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance, including welding and fabricating automotive components. Experience must be equivalent to that of a Journeyman Automotive Mechanic.
Certifications:
Must hold a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Possesses substantial knowledge of the principles and procedures for operating, maintaining, and repairing light and heavy equipment, including skills in diagnosing and resolving malfunctions.
Thorough understanding of reel cutting and bed knife technology, along with the operation of machinery used for sharpening and maintenance.
Ability to provide clear instructions.Applies basic geometric and mathematical knowledge related to mechanical repairs and fabrication.
Must be capable of physically maneuvering, carrying, lifting, and positioning parts used in repair work, with the ability to handle weights up to 90+ pounds.
Must operate light construction equipment and vehicles under repair.Ability to read and comprehend vehicle maintenance and repair manuals.
Applies basic mathematical knowledge related to mechanical repairs and fabrication.
Operates golf equipment on uneven terrain in various weather conditions.
Performs repairs while on the ground or floor as necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires frequent strenuous to extreme physical effort, including the regular handling of heavy objects (e.g., 50+ pounds) and may involve the use of heavy tools or require strenuous activity in awkward positions.
Occasional exposure to predictable hazards that are well-protected against.
