Position: Custodial Technician

Reports To: Supervisor/Program Manager

Department: WAPA Janitorial Services

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Supervises: None

Compensation: **$18.88 per hour**
(Base: $14.65 + Hazard/Work: $4.23)

Work Schedule: Part-Time, Monday to Friday (4 hours daily)

General Overview:

The Custodial Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized environment within the facilities. This role is crucial in promoting sanitary conditions that help reduce odors and the spread of germs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  2. Collect and dispose of waste materials.
  3. Service and restock restroom facilities.
  4. Polish and clean furniture and fixtures.
  5. Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  6. Dust surfaces including furniture, walls, and equipment.
  7. Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and detergents as per guidelines.
  8. Shampoo carpets or steam-clean as necessary.
  9. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  10. Adhere to safety protocols when using chemical cleaners and equipment.
  11. Assist in moving heavy items as required.
  12. Notify management of any major repair needs.
  13. Order cleaning supplies and equipment as needed.
  14. Set up and take down event equipment such as tables and chairs.
  15. Comply with all safety and OSHA regulations.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Flexibility in work schedule is essential.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Familiarity with various cleaning equipment and physical demands of the job.
  • Must follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision.

Additional Information:

This position operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. Employees will be required to engage in physical activities such as lifting, carrying, walking, and pushing. Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements is mandatory.

Minimum Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in janitorial or related fields. Basic computer skills are also necessary.

Background Check: Candidates must pass a drug screening and background check, which must be maintained throughout employment.
