Job Summary

University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC) is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager - Specialized Construction Projects to lead our Special Projects Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, estimating, selling, and managing multiple, specialized, fast-track mechanical construction projects. Your expertise in effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and forecasting of costs and profitability will drive project success.

Key Responsibilities

1. Take ownership of estimates, project scoping, proposals, project safety, and project execution while meeting or exceeding department profitability goals.
2. Provide conceptual HVAC and plumbing designs for estimating purposes.
3. Develop and maintain client relations.
4. Review job estimates of direct reports and prepare project budgets.
5. Estimate and negotiate change orders.
6. Track, forecast, report labor hours and material costs.
7. Buyout major equipment and subcontracts.
8. Expedite and track deliveries of major equipment/materials.
9. Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, work scope, and specifications of project contract/subcontract.
10. Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and specifications.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years' experience as a mechanical project manager.
• Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree desired.
• A minimum of one year's experience managing PE's.
• Basic HVAC and plumbing engineering knowledge.
