The ideal candidate will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor and will play a vital role in the financial reporting cycle while conducting thorough financial analyses for our local business units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute accounting tasks associated with oil and product agreements.
  • Prepare and verify journal entries, perform analyses, and conduct general ledger reconciliations.
  • Maintain comprehensive financial documentation.
  • Engage in the month-end closing activities and generate periodic financial reports.
  • Assist external auditors by providing necessary account information and documentation for annual audits.
  • Support tax preparers in the filing of federal and provincial tax returns.
  • Facilitate tax audits as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of various federal and provincial tax returns.
  • Manage the company’s tax database effectively.
  • Address inquiries and comments from the Parent company’s Accounting and Finance team.
  • Respond to department-related financial questions and comments.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements in financial reporting and accounting processes.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English, with strong reading and writing skills.
  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the Commodities Trading sector.
  • Experience in Canadian tax preparation is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP/IFRS and US tax regulations.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping practices.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities, with a keen interest in developing problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.
  • Willingness to work additional hours during critical financial periods.
