Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Dispatcher for our client in Pittsburgh. The successful candidate will be tasked with handling service requests, coordinating job dispatches, and overseeing activities throughout the order fulfillment and transportation process.

Position Details:

  • Temp to hire
  • $17/hour
  • In office
  • 1st shift

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage service requests within the shipment management system, generate quotes, and ensure the accuracy of shipping documentation as needed.
  • Dispatch jobs in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with all offices and local service providers to facilitate efficient transfer processes, ensuring the fulfillment of initial service requests.
  • Oversee activities throughout the order fulfillment and transportation cycle to guarantee deadlines are met:
  • Provide real-time updates on wait times to customers.
  • Obtain real-time images of multi-shipment orders, dry ice replenishment, and deliveries made to residences.
  • Document quality assurance service issues, capacity challenges, and multi-courier commissions.
  • Assess and implement suitable responses to emergencies, accidents, and breakdowns.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of customer requests, services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, and other dispatch-related information.
  • Communicate Chain of Custody standards effectively.
  • Consult with management to achieve operational objectives.
  • Provide warehouse assistance as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional verbal communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; capable of fostering teamwork and motivating others.
  • Familiarity with time zones and military time.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and time constraints.
  • Knowledge of local and regional geography; proficient in reading maps accurately and swiftly.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Email.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and processes.
  • High School diploma/GED; an Associate's degree or vocational/technical training beyond high school is preferred.
  • Flexibility in working hours is essential.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
