Racial Justice Fellow

DePaul Law's Racial Justice Fellowship is a unique opportunity to study and advocate for racial justice in Chicago's vulnerable communities. As a Fellow, you will be mentored and supervised by a Faculty Director and will have the chance to teach and mentor law students, develop course materials, and contribute to advocacy-oriented programs and projects at the law school, university, and within Chicago.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise students on research, law and policy analysis, and advocacy skills to further racial justice
  • Oversee volunteers and interns working with the law school on racial justice issues
  • Organize conferences, workshops, and seminars for university and community stakeholders
  • Draft research and policy papers in conjunction with the Faculty Director
Requirements:
  • Licensed to practice law in a US jurisdiction with two to three years of experience working in civil rights or criminal justice
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Excellent work ethic and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously in diverse legal areas
  • Commitment to a participatory, collaborative, inclusive work environment
