Position Summary

As a Genetic Counselor, you will play a vital role in delivering expert genetic counseling, education, and emotional support to patients and their families. Your focus will be on individuals with a family history of genetic disorders or those at risk for inherited conditions, helping them navigate the complexities of genetic health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive genetic counseling and education to patients and families regarding genetic disorders and inheritance patterns.
  • Analyze family medical histories and genetic test results to assess the likelihood of disease occurrence or recurrence.
  • Facilitate understanding of genetic diagnoses and provide information on testing, management, and available resources.
  • Support families in making informed decisions regarding genetic risks and adaptations to potential conditions.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of counseling sessions and prepare genetic counseling summary letters for referring clinicians.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Qualifications

Education: A Master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.

Licensure: A valid California license as a Genetic Counselor (CGCL).
