Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate cabling teams
  • Construct telecommunications closets
  • Implement cable support systems including cable trays, j-hooks, and ladder trays
  • Install various types of cables such as Cat 6 horizontal station cable, backbone cable, fiber optic cable, and inner duct
  • Set up special systems including security, CCTV, audio-visual, and fire alarm cabling
  • Terminate Cat 6 horizontal 4-pair work-area outlets and optical fiber connections
  • Conduct copper and fiber splicing, whether fusion or mechanical
  • Perform testing on copper cables (UTP and coax) and optical fibers
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot both copper and optical fiber issues
  • Work at heights using ladders and power tools
  • Lift and position a 50 lb. ladder as needed
  • Be available for occasional overtime
  • Work effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines
  • Travel may be required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing projects in the communications cabling industry
  • Experience in data centers is a plus
  • Thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation tracking work progress, including timesheets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit a positive attitude and maintain a professional appearance

Desired Certifications:

  • BICSI Certified Technician Installer 1 or 2, in Copper and/or Fiber
  • Other relevant manufacturer certifications
  • Certifications such as OSHA, Confined Space, etc.

Tools: Must possess all necessary hand tools for communications technician work, ensuring they are well-maintained and utilized correctly.
