Senior Cloud Operations Engineer (Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform)

*Long-term contract with potential for conversion*

Hybrid: 3 days a week onsite

Optomi, in collaboration with a leading client, is looking for a skilled Cloud Operations Engineer to enhance their team in Plano. This role is centered around the development, maintenance, support, and optimization of cloud operations for a sophisticated microservices architecture. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic, high-energy, and innovative setting, contributing to a forward-thinking product. Effective collaboration is crucial in this position, requiring both technical expertise and a genuine passion for the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement performance enhancements in areas such as responsiveness, availability, and scalability.
  • Construct, manage, and refine CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support, maintain, and scale infrastructure and services across AWS, GCP, and other cloud platforms.
  • Address complex technical challenges creatively, demonstrating the ability to devise solutions independently.
  • Deliver solutions in environments involving fixed wireline networking, wireless systems, distributed systems, and applications.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of innovative, multi-cloud products by:
  • Automating build processes.
  • Utilizing static code analysis tools.
  • Ensuring adherence to code promotion best practices.
  • Implementing deployment strategies such as A/B testing, Canary, and Blue/Green.
  • Building resilient cloud ecosystems with high availability and scalability.
  • Deploying to Azure, AWS, or GCP using Docker containers, Kubernetes, or virtual machines with base images.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a creative and independent approach to finding solutions.
  • Experience in public cloud environments (AWS or GCP) and Agile development methodologies.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and Linux environments.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies like Istio or similar.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and orchestration tools (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Datadog, AppDynamics, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Experience with embedded or edge compute systems.
