POSITION OVERVIEW

The Facility Operations Manager is accountable for the organization, planning, and execution of preventive maintenance, calibration initiatives, and repairs to minimize production interruptions and maintain the facility in compliance with cGMP Standards. This role involves identifying, assessing, testing, and implementing new technologies for facility and process enhancements. Responsibilities also include writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and designing cost-saving strategies that prevent equipment downtime, thereby ensuring the production schedule is upheld and productivity is maximized.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Expertise in all processes related to the Preventive Maintenance of all facilities and serviced equipment, with the ability to train and explain the functions and operations to junior staff.
  • Responding to emergency situations during or after hours to address immediate safety or production issues.
  • Overseeing repairs and/or maintenance of commercial equipment and systems, including HVAC, refrigeration units, mechanical room equipment, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Clean-in-Place (CIP) Systems as necessary.
  • Managing and/or performing preventive maintenance tasks as required.
  • Specifying and procuring necessary equipment.
  • Installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting equipment as needed.
  • Assisting in the development of the master validation plan for the validation of equipment and facilities.
  • Writing Standard Operating Procedures and validation protocols.
  • Executing validation protocols.
  • Ensuring that repairs and preventive maintenance adhere to current SOPs and company policy standards.
  • Mentoring junior staff and supporting team development through project supervision.
  • Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities on the overall status of operations and specific issues of concern as required.
  • Monitoring industry publications and presentations to remain current on facility technology and recommending improvements over time.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or three to five years of relevant experience in cGMP, HVAC, Electrical systems, or training; or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
