Job Summary

Johns Hopkins Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team in providing exceptional care to pediatric patients. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing quality respiratory care to patients, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients' clinical status, evaluate progress toward goals, and recommend courses of action to determine a plan of care.
  • Plan for patients' respiratory care needs in collaboration with other members of the care team to provide the highest quality of clinical outcomes.
  • Safely perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards, procedural guidelines, and policies to provide safe patient care.
  • Analyze critical situations and apply appropriate judgment and critical thinking to achieve problem resolution.
  • Accurately and reliably interpret and communicate patient results to support patient care.
  • Document interventions performed and response to therapies in the electronic medical record to result in compliant and useful documentation.
  • Interact with and explain therapeutic modalities to patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team in an understandable manner based on learning styles and individual diversity to ensure collaborative care coordination.
  • Effectively work in a team-based environment, especially during stressful situations involving quickly changing priorities, to achieve the highest quality of patient outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree
  • Current Florida Respiratory Therapist Licensure
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NRBC)
  • Must be a graduate from a Registered Respiratory Therapy Program approved by the Commission of Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
  • No experience required for New graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association or must be obtained within 120-day orientation period
  • Current NRP certification if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Salary Range: Minimum $29.74 per hour - Maximum $47.58 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
