Facilities Maintenance Lead

Position Summary
Accountable for the proficient management of all maintenance operations and designated projects within the facility. Reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent regarding the effective and efficient utilization of all personnel and resources under their direction. Additionally, the Lead offers equipment-related knowledge and technical support typically associated with a plant engineer.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance team or shift with a focus on prioritization, planning/scheduling, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance to uphold production efficiency and quality.
  • Administer daily maintenance tasks, including routine inspections and supervision.
  • Enhance critical maintenance metrics such as asset utilization, maintenance expenses, and preventive maintenance compliance to ensure optimal use of materials, labor, and equipment to achieve maintenance objectives.
  • Direct maintenance initiatives and assess outcomes to enhance plant operations, reduce unexpected downtime, maximize productivity, and lower operational costs.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with various plant operational departments.
  • Manage personnel matters, including recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and resolution of employee issues.
  • Guide, direct, and inspire team members, including establishing performance benchmarks and monitoring progress.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the maintenance department.
  • Provide indirect oversight of contractors engaged in project work or maintenance tasks within this department.
  • Facilitate communication with upper management, colleagues, supervisors, and team members through various channels.
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Familiarity with materials, techniques, terminology, equipment, and tools utilized in the maintenance and repair of manufacturing facilities and systems.
  • Prior experience in managing personnel and maintenance operations.
  • Completion of safety training and ongoing compliance with required safety protocols.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong commitment to safety in maintenance operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in either mechanical or instrumentation and electrical maintenance, with substantial exposure to the other discipline.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, along with strong listening abilities.
  • Focus on identifying root causes and implementing corrective measures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the company’s operational standards preferred.
