Overview

Emory Healthcare is a leading academic health system in Georgia, committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. We are seeking an experienced HLA Technologist to join our team in one of the best ASHI-Accredited HLA Labs in the country.

Responsibilities
  • Perform standardized and high-complexity histocompatibility testing on various types of clinical samples.
  • May perform tests in one scientific discipline or perform selected tests in multiple disciplines (crosstrain DNA/serology).
  • Contribute to sample processing, test preparation, testing results, and generate reports.
  • Train and mentor other HLA technologists.
  • Evaluate the validity of test results according to transplant program needs and confirm results by alternative methods.
  • Participate in equipment maintenance, instrumentation calibration, quality control, and documentation, and monitor levels of supplies and equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
  • Two years of medical technology or HLA experience.
  • Certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or categorical, MT (AMT), MT (HHS or HEW), MT (AAB), CHT (ABHI), CHS (ABHI).

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure, Bio-hazardous waste, Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, Communicable diseases, Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
