Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. As a critical care specialist, you will work closely with our expert staff of physicians, nurses, and other specialists to provide comprehensive and continuous care to patients in need of life support or who require intensive monitoring and treatment due to serious illness or injury.
Responsibilities:
Taking initial patient histories and performing physical examinations
Evaluating, diagnosing, developing, and managing treatment plans
Ordering and interpreting lab tests
Counseling patients
Performing various medical procedures
Central and arterial line placement
Chest tube placement
Conferring with attending physicians, residents, and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
Requirements:
1-2 years of critical care experience
Bachelor's Degree required
Graduate of an accredited (Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program, required
A licensed Physician Assistant by the New York State Department of Education is required
Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), is required
Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
ATLS trained, preferred but not required
