Background Investigation Specialist

We are actively seeking a dedicated full-time Credentialed Background Investigator specializing in the Intelligence Community, based in the Herndon, VA area.
Key Responsibilities
The Background Investigator will undertake the following duties:
- Execute comprehensive background investigations to assess the employment eligibility of individuals requiring access to sensitive or classified U.S. Government information.
- Coordinate appointments with subjects, sources, and record providers.
- Conduct in-person interviews with the investigation subject and their acquaintances, including neighbors, employers, and family members.
- Perform thorough record searches at various institutions such as police departments, courthouses, educational establishments, and medical facilities.
- Document all gathered information in a clear and concise report using an official government computer system.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Possession of a current Tier 5 SSBI favorably adjudicated clearance.
- A minimum of a High School diploma.
- Experience in conducting Intelligence Community background investigations, including completion of Investigator training in accordance with National Training Standards.
- At least 3 years of general experience (such as military, local, state, or federal law enforcement) or 1 year of specialized Federal Background Investigative experience.
- A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle, as driving is a crucial function of this role. Motor Vehicle Records may be reviewed during the hiring process or at any time during employment, and candidates with poor driving records will not be considered.
- Must maintain adequate motor vehicle insurance, details of which will be provided.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse individuals.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational, scheduling, and prioritization abilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate typing skills (40+ WPM recommended) and proficiency in computer applications.
- Capability to write for extended periods, meet attendance and punctuality expectations, and maintain focus on details.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone, with a high degree of accuracy in recording, reading, and transcribing information.
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
- Demonstrated success in meeting quality, timeliness, and production metrics.
- Willingness to travel locally and beyond the primary work area, with local travel comprising approximately 15-20% of the work week.
- Opportunities for Temporary Duty Assignments several times a year, lasting from days to weeks.
- Physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
